Don’t screw up your social media plan
I’m pretty excited about launching the new winter courses. Our amazing collaboration with Chagrin Falls Community Education has resulted in a solid foundation in social media education.
Throughout my consulting travels in Cleveland and beyond I’ve found a significant gap in educational opportunities for those would-be students who really need to learn more about social media. Local PR agencies, nonprofits, marketing and sales reps are pretty desperate to create at least a basic understanding of how to harness the power of social media.
Facebook is not a one-stop fix, neither is Twitter. That’s the thing. The goals and the metrics HAVE to match the platforms you’re interested in using. Social media is definitely not a “build it and they will come” scenario. It requires time and cultivation and a ton of tweaking.
Sorry, that’s just how it is.If you want to make sure you don’t screw it up, come take a class. I won’t let you screw it up – I promise.
Special thanks to Mary Beth Wolfe and Lauren Jones – the Head Chicks in Charge at CFCD.
